I love playing hockey, but I just suck at it. Luckily I play on a team that endures my feeble attempts. Tonight I was particularly bad, and our team lost a game we should have won.
But despite it all, I still had a great time.
Just got an update on my Mirra chair from Herman Miller. Apparently they’re going to hand-make it for me on Jan 11th with delivery expected the following week.

Today was a good day for it, so we went for a walk in the park.

I’m waiting for the Canadian arrival of the iPad 2 in a couple of weeks. I won’t be camping in line, but I am looking forward to having one.
Currently I have a great Swiss Army backpack for carrying my MacBook Pro to and fro, but I rarely use it for that. I will, however, be taking my iPad to and from the office and the classroom.
I discovered this messenger bag that looks fantastic. Perhaps I’ll pick one up the next time I’m in San Fran, which will likely happen in December for An Event Apart.
I’d have to select a different colour combination though. The green trim you can see below is not terribly attractive, but the brown leather with copper trim is quite smart looking.
The Waterfield Muzetto.

After finishing the SunRun, I decided to rest for a few days. That became a couple months and I lost a lot of the endurance I had built up.
Last week I decided to get back into it and I’ve managed to finish 3 runs so far.
My next goal in the Victoria Half Marathon, held on 10/10/10 this year. I’ll have to start looking at training plans so I can ramp up to the 24 kms that I’ll be running.
Another few reasons to look forward to the race in the fall:
- Staying at the Hotel Oswego, a fantastic place right in the harbour
- Bringing Finn along (pet friendly hotel!)
- Spinnakers Pub after the race. A most excellent brewpub with excellent selection

It’s no mystery that I am a Mac and iPhone fan, having been an Apple user since the early 80’s. I’ve advocated for Macs at my workplace for those that have a web development focus, and use my iPhone for enough tasks that the monthly cellular contract cost seems a bargain.
When the iPad debuted earlier this year, I had many discussions on the pros and cons of Apple’s entry into the tablet market. The most common question I get is: when I am going to get mine. The short answer is not until Version 2, but I am weakening on that position.
I had the great fortune to be able to try one out during a recent trip to San Francisco, and it was a greater experience than I had hoped for. It was easier to use than I thought it would be, with a very natural feel to the user interface, and a gorgeous screen that was incredible to look at.
It was just a little heavier than I thought it would be, but it has a solid feel that is comfortable to hold. Reading is a great experience, with a considerable amount of thought and interaction testing evident in the iBooks application.
However, I am wary of any Version 1 product, especially one with such a new interaction model. I can see a league of Apple engineers pouring over usage stats, planning the next iteration of hardware and software.
As much as my logic tells me that waiting for the iPad 2 is the best option, I can’t help but to really want one as soon as they are available here in Canada.
